DAY 67 TUESDAY FEB 28, 2012

My first day on the Challenge went very well. I drank every drop of the fluids that I was supposed to, and I peed close to 10 times that I can remember. I ate the eggs for breakfast, missed lunch because I was working like crazy, exercised for almost an hour, ate half of the dinner that I ordered, as I needed to keep the calories in check, and finished the night with Organic Air Popped Popcorn. At 8:30 PM I was asleep in my Chair, got up at 11:40 and went to bed, slept until the alarm at 4:15 and started everything again. Water in front of me, 33.8 fluid ounces of 100% natural spring water. It's almost done. Add to that 16 ounces of coffee, and the Iced Tea that I will start in 10 minutes, along with the second bottle of water I will sip until Noon, and the AM part of the day will have me at 100 ounces of fluids. My way is not for everyone, I get that, but I am treating the fluids like a job or a chore. Consciously ingesting the fluids should teach me what I am supposed to do. As I learn by repetition, this should set me up well. It did before, I was in the rhythm, and I slacked the fluids. Not again, it works. I also noticed that with all the water and tea, less Diet Pepsi is entering me, and that is probably a great thing.
After taking a lot of bashing, and I am sure it is warranted in your minds, I want everyone that reads this to understand that while I write this for me, I do wish you would all try some of these things out. The fluids are fantastic. No, a bottle of water will not slay the aromas from Burger King when you just ate a pickle for lunch, and the liter of water tastes nothing like a warm NY bagel with butter on a winter's morning with a cup of Hot Chocolate. The water cleans you out and fills you up, giving you a fighting chance at resisting the crap out there. Of course the eggs I just ate were tasty. They were not on top of Corned Beef Hash, next to 5 strips of bacon and 3 link sausages, sitting next to a separate plate of biscuits and gravy, with some extra toast. I get the difference, trust me I do. The fluids fill the void, and you need to experience it to believe it. Not one day of fluids, try it for a week. I explained I treat the fluids as a chore. I have to. If I was on 3 times a day meds, I would take them as warranted. I am on 5 times a day minimum fluids for the rest of my life.
One of our catering customers has a PR event today with a Pharmaceutical company. Their needs involved Cookies, styled after what is known as a "Black and White", but with different colors and some writing on each cookie. They are on the way, all 900 of them. Our bakers are exhausted..

Lots of work, hopefully the customer will be pleased. They look nice, and I have had the cookies, they are tasty. Didn't eat these, had some others..
In keeping with the Spirit of the Challenge, I weighed in at Equinox today. While I am still above the complete loss from my start in May of 2010, and I approach the 22 month of this crazy ride, I can report in at a total loss of

250 POUNDS

I am proud of the loss, and I am mortified that I still have 70 pounds left to lose to be healthy. I will never go back, I am ashamed at what I did to me. Forward, on with the Challenge, maybe piss someone off this afternoon a bit..

  1. Good for you, Allan for having a good first day. My was mostly within limits but I made some choices that could have been better. Focusing on staying under my calorie and carb limit and then will build from there. I was overall pleased with my day.

  2. Glad you had a great day. I'm doing better today, only 930 and already 50 oz of water plus a cup of coffee. And calories in check!

  4. I hear you on that water thing... I can't wait to lose some freaking weight just so I can reduce how many ounces I drink a day. I hit the water 100%. It took until midnight to get 160oz.

Tough time with fluids yesterday- poor planning. It's 11 and I've had 60 of 150 oz. I will be getting it all in.

  8. 250 is fantastic Allan! You could have the rest off by the end of summer and then it's done once and for all, just need to maintain it.

I'm still eating at around 1200 calories for the day, but only got in 2.5 litres.

  14. A 250 lb loss is absolutely amazing -- and you've still got the drive and enthusiasm to continue and get the job done!

I've recently upped my water intake from around 90 ounces to 135. At first I thought there was no way that I'd be able to drink that much water -- but you get used to it, and the hydration/cleansing effects are terrific. It's just a mental hurdle to get over.
