Didn't feel right last night, some wicked heartburn, diarrhea, pain. All better this morning, no need to see a Doctor. Got me wondering about other afflictions, and people that have it worse than my little angina or heart burn. Read this just now on Facebook, and I am copying it here...
Yesterday was eventful. Started out normal, everything was fine, the day was going good. And then, while I was using the restroom I heard the front door slam shut, the garage door open but the car never started. I was confused. I yelled for Trisha, to see what was going on, but she never replied. I finished using the bathroom, ran out to the garage, only to find the garage door, wide open and Trisha walking down the street. I yelled for her, but she didn’t acknowledge it. I knew something was wrong. I ran back into the house, grabbed some shoes and the car keys and drove over to Trish. When I pulled up to her she looked terrified. She didn’t have a jacket on or shoes. I begged her to get into the car. She was very hesitant. I promised her I would take her to her mom’s and she agreed to let me drive her. However, she got in the back seat. She didn’t wear her seat belt and was holding the door handle the entire time. I attempted to talk to her, but she wouldn’t talk to me. She just kept telling me over and over, “I wanna go home.” Every time I looked at her in the mirror and seeing her completely lost, killed me. I took her to her mom’s like I had promised. The second the car slowed down enough, she jumped out, and ran right past her sister. She didn’t even recognize her. She went right to her mom, hysterical. She told her mom she woke up in a house she didn’t know. Her mom took her into her room and let her lay down. She lay in there, crying. Then she asked for the one thing that meant more to her than her own life, her dog Annie. Her mom had to break the news to her; Annie had been put down, years ago and hearing that news crushed her. My mother-in-law (Julie Churley) came out of the room to talk to me. During that time, (Lauren Churley) my sister-in-law, was left in the room with Trish. She was a mess. Sobbing and then, had a second seizure. After about two minutes of seizing, that seizure ended. She slept for a bit and awoke at her mom’s confused but, finally remembering everyone. Now after all this, you might think, “Damn your weekend sucked.” Or even, “Poor Trish.” But when we all told her what happened, she laughed. And her sister laughed. I laughed. Really, laughter is the best medicine. Take it from someone who has had a shitty ticket dealt to him the day he was born and now, has a wife that keeps getting knocked down. Yet she gets back up every single time! We together, will and can face anything. From CF to a second brain tumor! From MS to decreasing lung functions, we won’t let a crappy hand slow us down! Live your life, the best you can! Whether you believe you only have this one, a spirit one, or if you think you’re coming back… This current one needs to be fulfilled too!
When you get up, realize we are fat, but it could be worse. Get up, get on track, and follow Trisha...
Keep putting things in perspective, Allan. Some people have real problems, some pretend the store being out of king-size Snickers bars and having to buy two regular-size ones is a tragedy.
ReplyDeleteOh God that was a wake up call.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about you. This story brings things into perspective. I know sometimes at the check out in a store they always ask, "How are you?" and I say "Fine, and you?" There is often the comment of how much better they will be in an hour when work is over or some other complaint. I always say, "There are people laying in the hospital right now and you are not one of them." It does make people think. We take so much for granted don't we? It's good to hear from you again.
